Welcome to
Villa Controni
Italy has always represented a slower, more intentional way of celebrating. The emphasis on food, conversation, and gathering felt deeply aligned with how we wanted to mark this moment. Hosting our wedding in Tuscany allows us to share that experience with the people who mean the most to us.

About the
Set at the base of Monte Pisano, the Vorno Estate sits on land shaped by centuries of history. Monte Pisano was once a central battlefield in the long-running conflicts between Pisa and Lucca, which began around the year 1000 and continued for more than four centuries.
Villa Controni was originally built as the summer residence of the Controni family—noble merchants who later took over what is now Palazzo Pfanner in the heart of Lucca. In 1692, Carlo Controni hosted Prince Frederick of Denmark and Norway here during the Prince’s Grand Tour of Italy.
Over the years, the estate functioned as a small, self-sustaining world, complete with housing for workers, a chapel, stables, and an olive oil press. It later became known for the cultivation of rare flowers and, in the 19th century, as the residence of Felice Matteucci, credited with inventing the combustion engine in 1853.

Wedding Weekend
ITINERARY
We’ll be gathering for a weekend together in Tuscany to celebrate our marriage. While the heart of the weekend is set, we’ll continue to share more detailed timing and notes in the coming months as plans are finalized. This page will be updated as those details take shape.
All wedding events will take place on the Vorno Estate, specifically at Villa Controni. For the weekend, we’ve rented three villas across the estate, creating a private, shared setting for our time together.
Friday
We’ll begin the weekend with a welcome cocktail party on the estate—an easy first evening to gather and settle in. Expect a relaxed, celebratory atmosphere inspired by a classic Italian aperitivo, with plenty of wine and a feast of some of our favorite Italian dishes.
